Opera
Soprano Chandry Abreu trained as an opera singer in her hometown of Seattle. She later received her masters degree from Brooklyn College in New York where she performed roles with Regina Opera, (2018) Brooklyn Opera Works, (2017) and Baroque Summer Vocal Arts NY (2016). Seattle highlights include; solo recitalist of German and Black American composers of Art Song at The Langston Hughes Performing Arts Cultural Institute (2023). Roles have included; Cynire in C.W Gluck’s Echo et Narcisse (Bow Opera), a sorceress in H. Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas (Bow Opera), and a member of the women’s ensemble in G. Verdi’s; Aida, (Regina Opera). Also an adept teaching artist and stage actor, Chandry played the role of Ruby Simmons in the staged reading of Mississippi Summer, (2023) and Salma’s mother in the debut production of Abraham’s Land (2021) in Seattle.
